My roommate and UFOS
My roommate is obsessed with UFOs. He believes that he saw one a few years ago. He states that he was outside sitting in the back yard and saw a disc in the air. It didn't move at all, then moved quickly out of the sky. He never said anything about a light or anything... but he also said that other people saw it. That other people told him that they saw the same thing. Now he believes that UFOs are real, Area 51 is real, and Roswell incident is real. What I don't get is how he can believe so adamately in it. There is even a tv channel where there are UFO shows on all the time, "historical backups" to the UFO phenomenon.

Maybe they are. There's currently no evidence that has held up to scrutiny, so maybe, but probably not.
Find out, if you could, if there is anything at all that would, in theory, change his mind?

Can't say there is. I have tried repeatedly to ask him why he believes it, and his response is that he saw it with his own eyes. And that damn scifi channel doesn't help.
